Material Safety Data Sheets
Manufacturers must evaluate the hazards of the products they produce. Using that information, they must then prepare labels for containers, and more detailed technical bulletins called Material Safety Data Sheets. (MSDS)
MSDS helps determine what products are or have the potential to be hazardous. Employers are required to obtain this information for products used in their businesses from their product suppliers.
Occupational Safety and Health Standard guidelines help employers deal with (MSDS )issues of evaluating and communicating product hazards to employees.
One of these rules requires an employer to have Material Safety Data Sheets for each product and hazardous substance they use.
Determining if a product or substance is a hazard depends on number of factors. Common sense and immediate use health effects is too often the only factor considered in the many pet grooming business.
MSDS product information is used by Yuppie Puppy Studios to educate and train its GROOMOLOGY® employees.
We consider an employees daily exposure to grooming products as important health and safety factors in our business product selection and use.
Directions and some labeling of so called "natural products" for the general publics use is not enough for an employer. Product and substance Material Safety Data Sheets are required educational information an employer must provide and have available to employee's.
Increased exposure to some product or product substances normally considered safe may even become hazardous in business settings such as pet grooming. Products such as a mixture of bleach with water for sanitizing work spaces or use of latex exam/bathing gloves can become dangerous to pets and employees in daily business use. Uneducated use without product exposure training to some substances can and may be hazardous to the business environment, employee and pet.
YUPPIE PUPPY STUDIOS
The purpose of Yuppie Puppy Studios Material Safety Data Sheet and product use education and training, is to provide current information to our employees to protect their health and safety as well as the groomed pets.
Yuppie Puppy Studios provides its GROOMOLOGIST® employees with MSDS training and access to information resources on each product used in our pet grooming practice.
Our Health and Safety program provides employees with potential hazard effects, the physical and chemical characteristics of a product, and recommendations for a products appropriate and protective measures.
MSDS is part of Yuppie Puppy Studios employee Health and Safety Programs, our MSDS focus is a two level educational concern. These two levels present different health and safety hazard concerns as follows.
(1.) an employee's daily product exposures and understanding of product hazards and
(2.) a pets exposure to hazardous products in and outside the pet grooming practice.
Our GROOMOLOGIST® are educated and trained to consider not only their own occupational health and safety but also your pets, during and after product exposure.
